BMW E36 316, 97
We bought this E36 which started as a 316 ,but is becoming a Frankenstein.

BMW E36 316, 320 or 325? Porsche?
Current mods and specs
For the braking system currently the whole back subframe and rear brakes are from 325 model. The 325 brakes are a great upgrade compared to the drum brakes the 316 models were equipped. The front brakes have been upgraded to bigger ones from Porsche.
The engine is M50B20TU. So a Iron block M50 equipped with variable valve timing system VANOS. Even it is only the 2 liter version, it still will be enough for now. Currently the engine is putting 150hp but when chipped we can get it up to 170hp.
“When we first saw the car in person, it was in worse shape than we expected based on the pictures.”

The engine went there quite nicely, although the engine bay has less room compared to the E34´s which were are used to play with
The body is missing lots of little parts
The back wheel bearings were in a good condition 🙂

How to remove EWS on E36/ EWS delete

The E36 was equipped with EWS 1 AND EWS 2, in this case our E36 is 1997 model with EWS 2. Because the engine was switched to bigger engine from another E36, the engine wouldn’t start or crank because the EWS system was active.
To bypass the EWS simply take the yellow plug under/behind the glovebox and use a wire to connect the pins 1 and 3 with thick wires together. The pins are for the starter solenoid and after this modification the car started.

The rear got new wheel bearings, all the handbrake parts and lover control arms.
